san francisco shred!

You could have watched a professional surfing event at Waddell Creek yesterday (The Cold Water Classic was moved there because of swell and tide issues at The Lane), or watched pro shred heads rail it out (literally) at the Civic Center in San Francisco – 70 miles away. We opted for the later after a morning surf at Waddell (the pro’s were not yet out), fried crawfish bites at Popeye’s in Half Moon Bay and some mary jane infused cupcakes from my friend’s mom. Everybody happy. Under 70 degree October weather, snow brothers layed it out on the line in front of San Francisco’s finest. We drank beers, we looked at freaks, we saw friends we hadn’t seen in a long time. It was like a typical surreal day of snowboarding in the city.

The Results….

1. Dylan Alito
2. Nick Visconti
3. Dylan Thompson
4. Ryan Paul
5. Brandon Hobush

have i told you lately that i love you?

Giro Station Roskopp Eye Goggles.

Giro has really upped the ante lately, seems like they put Carl Zeiss lenses in everything. Great optics. Was given a pair last year and was stoked. Nice to see a Santa Cruz/Roskopp collab with these dudes.

Nike Kaijus.

I got a pair of Kaijus when they premiered two seasons ago. This will be my 18th season snowboarding, and I have to say, these are the best boots I have ever owned. I like a soft flex boot. I like my boots to feel like broken in skate shoes. The kaijus feel that way out of the box. If you are serious about your snowboarding and your feet, than smack these puppies on and let the good times roll. Thank you to Chris Wilmoth and Nike for the new pair.

Capita’s Defenders of Awesome.

There are two videos to care about this winter – Capta’s Defenders of Awesome and Travis Rice’s Art of Flight. If you like real snowboarding, done in real environments, on non red bull style budgets, than don’t miss this video. Their second video release ever, Capita’s Defenders of Awesome will make you want to shred. And shred hard.  I’ve said it a few times already, but Andrew Burns part is one of the best video parts of the year. From one of the best teams in snowboarding comes the new video not too miss. Get on the bandwagon, fiends.

sunday video sanctuary.

Get rid of that monday malaise with sunday video sanctuary. a day late but never a dollar short.

brick & mortar : milosport – lafayette.

Out and about in the East Bay? Then stop by Milosport – Lafayette. The 2nd most furthest snowboard shop West (and the most dialed!), Milosport – Lafayette is beyond the real deal. Owned and operated by George Johnston and his intrepid right hand man, Jason Watson, these dudes have got you covered. If you live in the east bay, if you skateboard, if you snowboard, if you put clothes on your naked body – than you are missing out by not coming here and doing some browsing and purchasing. After you have maxed out your atm debit card please head over to El Jarro across the street for some great Mexican fare. Then after you have stuffed your belly full, head back over to Milosport and buy some more shit. Everybody happy.

our 2nd annual cliffjump event is going down next weekend at big tit in folsom, ca. going to be great time. the big tit bonanza! we’ve got prizes. the eagle has landed and hopefully the water won’t be too damn cold.

in honor of this wonderful occasion, i present our last feature length cliffjump film, smokescreen (2004) . minus about the 24-30 minute mark because youtube deemed it to vulgar for broadcast. i plan on uploading new version onto vimeo shortly. anyways, new cliffjump film out this fall.

thanks for watching.

compatriot snowboards 2011/2012.

Snowing as we speak in Tahoe.

Speaking of snow(boarding). Time to start thinking about your favorite, rider owned, American made snowboard brand – Compatriot, for next year. Ride what Kevin Jones, Rob Kingwill and Robbie Sell ride. Snowboards made by and for snowboarders to shred big mountains with. Makes perfect sense, right? Peep the snow porn below and tell your favorite shops ya want ‘em.

may 15th?

May 15? Seriously. The endless winter of 2010/2011 just won’t let go of it’s severe death grip. All those neon spandexed out freaks around the lakey yesterday? They didn’t even get to start the Amgen tour of California, which was moved to this late May start date so they could have some Sierra legs of their bike race.

Snow & crawfish. Always a good thing. Shred on, brothers and sisters.
