we need handcuffs, mike.

We took it back to Squallywood for some weekend warrior action. Crust baked snow and sunshine. Let the light in and shred on, fiends.

We saw these people getting arrested by ski patrol above. Don’t try to get on a chairlift or a gondola this year without a season pass or a lift ticket. You will be arrested. How does a ride to Placer County Jail sound? Not good.

Josh was in attendance.

We diverted to Gold Run for some action.

And luckily we found some. I have been eyeballing this place for years to film a music video at. I could see a Slash style solo going on out in front of the church door or something.

Say a little prayer for you.

compatriot snowboards 2011 preview.

03/05/2010 by bradoates

With a team consisting of Kevin Jones, Rob Kingwill and Robbie Sell and with the boards built in very limited quantities, full wood cores, handmade in America and tested by actual snowboarders in the mountains, well, you know you’ve got the snowboard makings for success – meet Compatriot Snowboards. A sneak peek of Compatriot 2010/2011 is shown above.

From their own mouths, “We are not only a company, but an organization that is devoted to snowboarders, skateboarders, outdoorsmen, and artists. Those who ride our boards are unique individuals; they are committed riders who believe that snowboarding is an enigmatic expression of soulful struggle and elegant aggression. “

Snowboarding is personal and the company you support should be to. Get on board before the boat leaves the dock. I have been riding the Brunch Tray 153 skunk rocker and the movement 158. These sleds will elevate the radness. Spread the stoke. Ride the white wave.

i saw an avalanche.

03/04/2010 by josh staab

It’s arguable anyone actually believed the Nissan Freeride World Tour would take place on Squaw’s Tram Face last Sunday. The event was relocated at the last minute on the Tour’s previous year at Squaw. Expectations weren’t high.

And an avalanche erupting on the Face doesn’t inspire much confidence either.

The snow river was apparently caused when the World Tour’s head of security decided to take one more look at the conditions before giving the go-ahead, according to Jess McMillan’s blog. It started small at the top and quickly took off about halfway before crashing down at the base. The thunder roll was fantastic. The fracture was pretty visible even from the ground – right by the first Tram tower. I would’ve loved to have peeped it from the Tram.

The blast was big, sending frozen mist into more than a few onlookers’ mugs. No one was hurt, though.

Squaw ended up holding the World Tour the next day in Silverado. Maybe next year the Tram Face will be ready.

You can check out those highlights at Jess’ page as well.

Anyway, with no Tour to watch we took some turns.

End transmission.

Pretty much no one thought the Nissan Freeride World Tour was going to take place on Squaw’s Tram Face Sunday.

The Nor Cal x Skull Candy Hesh headphone contest. He said the Nor Cal Hesh headphones are rad and the kids in his 10th grade English class are stoked. Give it up for learning. And rocking out.

new santa cruz wood.

03/02/2010 by bradoates

New decks from Santa Cruz Skateboards. Fresh out the gates are (2) pro models from non-other than Bakersfield’s finest, Sid Melvin. After that it just gets nutty and tough to decide which boards to ride – Emmanuel Guzman’s 8.25 Savage? Sid Logo 8.2? Jessee Coqueria 8.4? Get on board and get some. Radical maneuvers await.
